Your Board has temporarily closed the lower park to all vehicular traffic. This is because we are receiving pressure from the Corps of Engineers who believe people are using our road to do damage to Corps property. Everyone will still be able to walk to the lower park by going through the small opening near the bath house. As soon as a new boundary barrier is created between the lower park and Corps property, residents will again have motorized access to the lower park through the regular gate.

The perimeter of land around the lake is Federal Property and is managed by the U. S. A rmy Corps of Engineers (USACE). This includes the Hancock Equestrian Trail. USACE rules and regulations prohibit motorized vehicles, overnight camping, open fires, cutting of trees, and boat launching except in designated places.
The Board recognizes that many residents are not aware of the boundaries. Some may have unintentionally violated Federal regulations for years. The Board is working proactively to address the problem. Numerous signs that mark where Federal land begins and where vehicles are prohibited will be purchased and installed. A steel cable barrier to prevent vehicles from entering the Equestrian trail will be put back in place. With mowing an area designated for parking, on CLACC land, that will give easy access to the “fishing hole” will be created. There will also be a sign on the gate reminding people not to drive on Federal Property. Work will be scheduled throughout the summer.
